Distribute মানে ভাগ করে দেয়া, বন্টন করে দেয়া। Distributive pronoun গুলাে অনেকগুলাে noun বা pronoun-এর মধ্য থেকে বেছে নিয়ে বিশেষ ভাবে বন্টন করে। যে pronoun অনেকগুলাে ব্যক্তি বা বস্তু থেকে একটি বস্তু বা ব্যক্তিকে আলাদা করে বুঝায় তাকে distributive pronoun বলে।

Distributive Pronoun Definition
Distributive pronoun গুলাের ব্যবহার জানার আগে তার সংজ্ঞা জানব এবং প্রতিটির ব্যবহারের সাথে তার সংজ্ঞার যথার্থ যাচাই করব।
Definition: The pronoun that separates one person or thing from a population of persons or things is called the distributive pronoun.
(যে pronoun অনেকগুলাে ব্যক্তি বা বস্তু থেকে একটি বস্তু বা ব্যক্তিকে আলাদা করে বুঝায় তাকে distributive pronoun বলে ।)
Distributive Pronoun গুলো হচ্ছে: each; either … or; neither . . . nor; everybody; everyone ইত্যাদি।
Each: Each মানে প্রত্যেক (প্রতি+এক). এটি প্রতি এক একজন করে সবাইকে বুঝায়, কিন্তু এর বৈশিষ্ট্য হল এই যে এটি singular বস্তু বা ব্যক্তিকে বুঝায়। যেমন :
All of them went there. (তাদের সবাই সেখানে গিয়েছিল)
Each of them went there. (তাদের প্রত্যেকেই সেখানে গিয়েছিল)।
লক্ষ্য কর, সবাই (All) আর প্রত্যেকে (Each) এক কথা নয়। Each বললে All কে বুঝতে বাকি থাকে না, তবু মাত্র একজন একজন করে বুঝায়। এবার নিচের উদাহরণগুলাে লক্ষ্য কর ?
Inc. Each of the students have applied for the football match.
Cor. Each of the students has applied for the football match.
Inc. Each of the men and women are bound (বাধ্য) to obey (মান্য করা) the law.
Cor. Each of the men and women is bound to obey the law.
Either: এই pronounটি মাত্র দুটি ব্যক্তি বা বস্তুর ক্ষেত্রে ব্যবহৃত হয়ে যে কোন একটি কে নির্দেশ করে। এর পর সব সময় singular verb ব্যবহৃত হয়।
Examples
Inc. Either of the two boys are talent. (মেধাবী )
Cor. Either of the two boys is talent.
Inc. The two brothers went to the town; either of them have been to town before.
Cor. The two brothers went to the town; either of them has been to town before.
Inc. There are two pens; either are good. (দুইটি কলম আছে; যে কোন একটিই ভাল।)
Cor. There are two pens; either is good.
Neither: এটিও মাত্র দু’টি বস্তু বা দু’জন ব্যক্তির মধ্যে “কোনটিই নয়” এরূপ বুঝায়। এরপরও singular verb বসে। যেমনঃ
Inc. There are two pens; neither are good. (দুইটি কলম আছে; কোনটিই ভাল নয়।)
Cor. There are two pens; neither is good.
NOTE I
Each of + noun/pronoun (plural -এভাবে ব্যাবহৃত হলে. Each কে বলে distributive pronoun, বিন্তু Each + singular noun-এভাবে ব্যাবহৃত হলে each-কে বলে adjectives. যেমন:
Each of them has said this. (pronoun)
Each boy has said this. (adjective)
কারণ, প্রথম বাক্যের each দ্বারা সরাসরি একজন ব্যক্তিকে নির্দেশ করা হচ্ছে, কিন্তু দ্বিতীয় বাক্যে each শব্দটি boy কে বিশেষিত করছে;-সরাসরি বালককে বুঝাচ্ছে boy শব্দটি, each নয়।
এভাবে Neither+noun/pronoun + nor+noun/pronoun এবং. Either + noun/pronoun- + or+noun/pronoun এভাবে ব্যবহৃত হলে neither ও either কে বলে conjunction; অধিকন্তু, neither/either+noun-শুধু এভাবে ব্যবহৃত হলেও এরা adjective হয়।
কিন্তু neither/either+of+plural noun বা pronoun-এরূপে ব্যবহৃত হলে তখন neither এবং either কে বলে distributive pronoun. আবার শুধু either বা neither subject হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হলেও তারা pronoun এর কাজ করে। যেমন:
Neither he nor his brother has done it. (সে বা তার ভাই কেউই একাজ করেনি) (conjunction).
Either this pen or that pen was bought from England. (হয় এই কলমটি না হয় ঐ কলমটি ইংল্যান্ড থেকে কেনা হয়েছিলো) (conjunction).
There are two pens here; either pen will do. (adjective)
There are two pens here; either is good. (pronoun)
There are two ways to do this; you can use either. (pronoun)
NOTE: 2
either এবং neither ব্যবহৃত হতে পারে যখন শুধু দুইজন ব্যক্তি বা বস্তুর কথা থাকে। তার বেশি হলে anyone বা noun ব্যবহৃত হয়। যেমন:
Inc. I have three dogs; neither of them is ferocious (হিংস্র).
Cor. I have three dogs; none of them is ferocious.
Inc. There are many people here; either of them can do it.
Cor. There are many people here; anyone of them can do it.
