What is trick-or-treating?

Trick-or-treating is when young kids dress up in costumes and go from house to house asking for candy or other treats from the people living there. In exchange for the treat, the kids may be asked to do tricks like singing a song or telling jokes.

Why is trick-or-treating done?

Trick-or-treating originated as an activity for children on All Hallows’ Eve (Halloween) night. It was believed that by doing these activities it would scare away evil spirits and bring good luck for the coming year. Thus, it became a tradition continued by generations along with eating candied apples and carving pumpkins into different shapes as part of the festivities.

When should you go trick-or-treating?

Traditionally trick-or-treaters go around just after sunset and no later than 8 pm. As an extra security measure, some parents even accompany their children while going around homes asking for treats. This ensures that their child will get home safely before it gets too dark outside.

Conclusion:
Although trick or treating has changed over time with varied rules regarding age limits, curfews and more; its main purpose still remains - to bring happiness to both children and adults alike during Halloween celebrations!
