Articles এর ব্যবহার – অঙ্গ-প্রত্যঙ্গ বা শরীরের কোন অংশকে বুঝাতে অনেক সময় possessia case এর। পরিবর্তে ঐ সব অঙ্গ প্রত্যঙ্গের নামের আগে the বসে।
Articles এর ব্যবহার
যেমনঃ
সে চোরটির মাথায় আঘাত করল = He struck the thief on the head. (এখানে the head= his head)
ছেলেটিকে কান ধরে এখানে টেনে আন = Pull the boy here by the ear. (এখানে the ear= the boy’s ear)
পুলিশ চোরটির হাত ধরল = The police caught the thief by the hand.
নিয়মঃ Proper noun এর আগে বা পরে তার appositon রূপে যদি কোন উপাধি বা পদমর্যাদার নাম বসে তাহলে ঐ উপাধির নামের আগে কোন article বসে না। (apposition কাকে বলে তা জানার জন্য case অধ্যায় দেখ)।
যেমনঃ
রহিম সাহেব, এই স্কুলের প্রধান শিক্ষক একজন ভাল লােক = Mr. Rahim, Headmaster of this school, is a good man.
জনাব করিম, এই ক্লাবের সভাপতি, একজন বিজ্ঞ ব্যক্তি = Mr. Karirn, chairman of this club, is a wise man.
সে দেশের রাজা টিং টং রাখাল রাজাকে অভ্যর্থনা জানালেন = Tingtong, president of that country, received Rakhal Raja.
Translation Bengali to English
নিয়মঃ কিন্তু Common noun যদি apposition না হয়ে complement হিসেবে কাজ করে তাহলে তার আগে the বসতে পারে। (Complement কাকে বলে তা জানার জন্য এই বইয়ের প্রথম দিকে elements of the sentence অধ্যায়ে দেখ।)
যেমন :
তিনি এ দেশের প্রেসিডেন্ট = He is President or, the President) of this country.
জাবেদ সাহেব এই ক্লাবের সচিব ছিলেন = Mr. Zabed was secretary (or, the secretary) of this club.

প্রধান শিক্ষক রহমান সাহেবকে ম্যাগাজিন কমিটির সদস্য নির্ধারিত করলেন = The Headmaster selected Mr. Rahman member of the Magazine Committee.
আমরা তাকে দলের নেতা মনােনীত করলাম = We nominated him leader of the party.
শ্রেণীর ছাত্র/ছাত্রীরা তারেককে ক্যাপ্টেন হিসেবে বাছাই করল = The students of the class chose Tareq captain of the class.
নিয়ম: Morning, noon, afternoon, dusk, night ইত্যাদি common noun এর আগে at বসালে সেই at এর পরে the বসে না; কিন্তু in বসালে ঐ in এর পরে the বসে।
যেমন:
সে সচরাচর রাতে বাড়িতে আসে = He usually comes home at night.
আমরা দুপুর বেলায় খেলি না = We do not play at noon.
সে সকালে ব্যায়ম করে = He takes exercise in the morning.
