Country Life versus City Life
The Introduction
Country life is usually different from city life on a number of grounds. In both lives, however, there are advantages and disadvantages. Country life is usually more simple and easy-going than city life.
Environment
Country life is better than city life considering the environment. In villages, people enjoy a pollution-free healthy environment. But cities are heavily being polluted. In a city, there are air pollution, water pollution, sound pollution, odor pollution, and so on. City people get no opportunity to breathe free and pure air or to enjoy clear sunshine.
The relationship among people
Country life is also better than city life considering the relationship among the people. Village people live in close harmony among themselves. If a person in a village is in danger, others come to help him/her. But the picture is different in a city. Here one does not come to help the other in his/her danger. This is why, about city life, Rabindranath Tagore once said: “Bricks upon bricks, inside the men-insects, and no love exists.”.
Facilities
However, city life is better than country life on the grounds of facilities such as education, medicare, jobs, etc. Usually, big colleges and universities are located in the city area. So, the city people can send their sons and daughters to good educational institutions. Famous hospitals and medical centers are also located in the city area. So city people enjoy more medical and education facilities than the village people.

Both city life and country life have their respective charms and problems. One of the English poets has said, “God made the village, and man-made the city”. It is true that today more and more people especially young people prefer city life. But, too many people village life is still a better choice than the artificial charms of city life.
শহুরে জীবন বনাম গ্রাম্য জীবন
সূচনা: শহুরে জীবন সাধারণত বিভিন্ন বিষয়ের ভিত্তিতে গ্রাম্য জীবন থেকে ভিন্ন। যাহােক, উভয় জীবন যাপনেই সুবিধা ও অসুবিধা বিদ্যমান। গ্রাম্য জীবন যথারীতি শহুরে জীবন থেকে অধিক সহজ ও সাবলীল।

পরিবেশগত দিক বিৰ্বেচনায় গ্রাম্য জীবন শহুরে জীবন থেকে অধিকতর ভালাে। গ্রামের মানুষ দূষণমুক্ত স্বাস্থ্যকর পরিবেশ উপভােগ করে। কিন্তু শহরের পরিবেশ মারাত্মকভাবে দূষিত হচ্ছে। শহরে বায়ু দূষণ, পানি দূষণ, শব্দ দূষণ, ন্ধসহ আরও অনেক দূষণ রয়েছে। শহরের মানুষ মুক্ত ও বিশুদ্ধ বাতাসে নিঃশ্বাস নিতে অথবা উজ্জ্বল রােদের আলাে উপভােগ করতে পারে না।
মানুষদের মধ্যকার সম্পর্ক
মানুষের মধ্যকার সম্পর্কের দিক বিবেচনায় গ্রামের জীবন শহরের জীবনের চেয়ে উত্তম। গ্রামের মানুষদের মাঝে ঘনিষ্ঠ সম্পর্ক বিরাজ করে। গ্রামে যদি কোনাে ব্যক্তি বিপদে পড়ে, অন্যরা তাকে সহায়তা করতে এগিয়ে আসে। কিন্তু এই চিত্রটি শহরের বেলায় ভিন্ন রূপ ধারণ করে। শহরে একজনের বিপদে অন্যরা এগিয়ে আসে না। এ কারণেই শহুরে জীবন সম্পর্কে রবীন্দ্রনাথ একবার বলেছিলেন, “ইটের উর ইট, তার উপরে বসত করে মানুষ নামের কীট, যেখানে নেই ভালােবাসার কোনাে অস্তিত্ব।” |

যাহােক, শহুরে জীবন সুবিধার বিভিন্ন বিষয় যেমন-শিক্ষা, স্বাস্থ্যসেবা ও চাকরিক্ষেত্রের উপর ভিত্তি করে গ্রামের জীবনের চেয়ে ভালাে। প্রকৃতপক্ষে বড় বড় কলেজ এবং বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের অবস্থান শহরে। তাই শহরবাসীরা তাদের সন্তান সন্ততিদের স্বনামধন্য প্রতিষ্ঠানে পাঠাতে পারে। সুপরিচিত হাসপাতাল এবং মেডিকেল সেন্টারগুলাের অবস্থানও শহরকেন্দ্রিক। সুতরাং শহরবাসীরা গ্রামবাসীদের থেকে বেশি শিক্ষা এবং স্বাস্থ্যসুবিধা পেয়ে থাকে। আবার শহর চাকরি সন্ধানীদের অধিক চাকরি প্রদান করতে পারে, কারণ বড় বড় অফিস, শিল্প কারখানা, সুপার মার্কেটের অবস্থান শহরে। শহুরে জীবন শহরবাসীকে অধিক বিনােদন এবং আমােদ প্রমােদের ব্যবস্থা করে। শহরে ধনী লােকদের জন্য উন্নত পার্লার, হােটেল, রেস্তোরা, ক্লাব ইত্যাদি রয়েছে।
সাধারণ ক্ষেত্রে
বর্তমানে প্রযুক্তির উন্নতির কারণে শহুরে জীবন এবং গ্রামের জীবনের মধ্যকার ব্যবধান হ্রাস পাচ্ছে। এখন অধিকাংশ গ্রামই বিদ্যুতের আলােয় আলােকিত। তাই গ্রামবাসীরাও এখন টেলিভিশন এবং রেফ্রিজারেটর রাখে। শহুরে জীবনের প্রভাবে এখন গ্রামের জীবনের নির্মলতা হারাতে চলছে।
উপসংহার
শহুরে ও গ্রাম্য উভয় জীবনে যথাক্রমে সুবিধা এবং অসুবিধা রয়েছে। জনৈক ইংরেজ কবি বলেছেন, “সৃষ্টিকর্তা তৈরি করেছেন গ্রাম, মানুষ তৈরি করেছে শহর।” এটি সত্য যে বর্তমানে অধিকাংশ মানুষ বিশেষ করে যুবক যুবতীরা শহুরে জীবন পছন্দ করে। কিন্তু অনেক মানুষের কাছে এখনও গ্রাম্য জীবন কৃত্রিম আনন্দদায়ক শহরের চেয়ে উত্তম।
